Sri Karmyogi says:

Accomplishment is decided by detachment.
Detachment is higher attachment.

He says that this should be started from work in hand as “Nishkamya Karma”.

Though we know this word to some extent, based on our traditional knowledge, Sri Karmayogi gives different explanation to the same.

All our works travel towards levelling off in a plane or stagnating in the same level after some time. Because the element of aspiration and resultant progressive energy is not continuous. The only way to see that is detachment in work. Even if a detachment of 10% invokes soul.

Detachment by definition is a capacity to function in a plane without itself being part of it. Only the soul is capable of functioning that way – fully in mental, vital and physical planes.

As for Mother devotees, soul centred life is the goal, detachment is the process to constantly try to lift mental, vital and physical acts like in the plane of soul till one can fully function from the sole centre. Then the soul centre take on to the function with silence in mind, quite heart in vital, calm nerves in physical – which is full form of detachment.

Then, what does “at least 10% means”.

We all do work with an expectation on results, even when we say we have consecrated the work and so we are not expecting result, still there will be a thought on job being well done, one’s progress in work increasing particular strength, recognition by others or even satisfaction in work, which always is a movement towards stagnation because it involves only doing a known thing in a known way but what we need is progress in knowledge, wisdom and consciousness.

So, detachment in present work will give mind – the fuller knowledge of process of the present method, a stronger will to put a greater knowledge into practice, vital shedding its past experiences to learn new, physical shedding its habit preservation.

As the void made by detachment is filled with aspiration – a spirit’s value – it invokes its purpose “awareness” and causing the resultant energy for progress. Awareness of the more positive element and holistic view, personality concerning it, recognition of counteracting attitude and attributes, and transformation of weaker parts.

Now, the force of the energy acts as peak of aspiration in mind is brought down to life and implement there, so that all parts of the being are raised to the corresponding level without imbalance, so that all can go to the next level. This is otherwise called as putting our mind, vital and body in a creative consciousness – higher consciousness – so that progress is there in every moment and no stagnation or levelling off.

We may simply say that we do not understand this. Sri Karmayogi says:

• If you cannot understand this process in work, simply detach yourself from your food consciousness for one day and you will know the process of progress in knowledge such as value of the food, why we are taking the food and it is only to give the energy for next work.
• Similarly, detach your thoughts on your offering to Divine. We can see that attachment is in proportionate to the size of offering. Detach from it. You can find gratitude filling it with knowledge of surrender.

He says even 1% detachment will reveal 10% higher potentials.

Psychic connection enables us to shed the limiting mental, vital, and physical influences in a work, which is detachment, and perceive our right relationship to the work which enables ultimate accomplishment.

Following are some of the stages – from detachment to spiritual individual.

1. Desireless action.
2. A greater and greater distancing from the control of the lower suggestions from physical and vital.
3. Mind becomes ethical mind -distancing itself from desire, sense suggestion, impulse, customary dictated action.
4. Develops perfection in proportion and discovers a self of Right, Love, Strength and Purity in which it can live accomplished and make it the foundation of all its actions.
5. Develops perfection in proportion as it detaches itself from all its cruder pleasures and from outward conventional canons of the aesthetic reason and discovers a self-existent self and spirit of pure and infinite Beauty and Delight which gives its own light and joy to the material of the aesthesis.
6. Consciousness beyond the scope of mind.
7. Increasing discovery of a self-existent Being, Light, Power and Ananda which surpasses and transforms the normal humanity.
