Sri Karmayogi says by thinking only individuality emerges. He says only those who start thinking that –why I am like this-is the starting point of progress at higher levels. Because –we are today what we are – because this is the position, we can attain by choices we made based on our thinking in different stages of life-which we ourselves now agree is based on utter stupidity.
He who thinks of past –connect it to present happenings-and predict what will happen in future-can be called as “tiri kala gyani”. Because thinking comes only when we come out of emotions, opinions and beliefs which make us to think of other alternatives-accumulating wisdom.
He gives a list of lines/channels in which we can think:
- Reminding yourself of what is important, and priority is most first form of thinking.
- Fixing ideals and goals based on that.
- Thinking on what the opportunity is, behind every adversity is.
- Creative thinking on how to do it better or excel.
- Thinking to challenge our assumptions, opinions and beliefs and accepted knowledge based on that to find whether there is anything superior to that. Because in a problematic situation we analyse the situations again and again in similar way-not knowing there will be other way also to solve the problem.
- Accepting kills thinking. Not only makes us dull but also leads to pre-occupation and prevents us from greatest advances-our spiritual inheritance. Suppose the thinking is to reach higher plane-higher knowledge is got which is clarity of spirit.
- Scrutiny all hours of leisure or dull hours or idle hours and think changing them to interesting ones and then the same to existing ones.
- Think your relations with society around you and analyse the irksome points and think of eradication them and make them harmonious.
- Think of making a progress in certain time. At least in a time in which a known person like us made a similar progress. Don’t take 10 years to complete a PHD though it is permitted.
- There is no ending to think of improvement in knowledge, skills, capacity, character, vocabulary etc-and trying to learn that.,
- Think about your shirking responsibilities-and the clever excuses you tell for that. Feel shame of it. Your progress will be 10-fold. Think of taking the opposite-your progress will be 100-fold.
- Think of understanding the content or essence 10% more than last time. Raise the efficiency by that to 25%. You can think of doing this even in daily routine like washing, reading, cooking, typing, and packing.
- Your maximum scope of thinking will always be in line with the ideal you value. Your greatest skill will be hidden behind that.
- Think of your personality and your assumption on that. For example, if you think you are a hard worker or knowledgeable person in your area, or loyal to all, affectionate to family, straight forward person etc., mostly the opposite will be the truth. Accept that and think of changing that.
- Hypertension is due to trying to do things more than the present situation admits or demands. Or expecting more than the supply. It is because of lack of knowledge, lack of organization. Thinking to organize-for example, if-forgetfulness or absent-mindedness gives tension- thinking to prepare a check list or organize in a better way or planning will reduce the tension.
- Think of leaving habits that you want ot get rid of in bunches. For example, if you want to quit smoking avoid –related opportunities, friends, circumstances and places as a cluster. Similarly, in swabhava –procrastination, lack of skill, meanness, escapism, avoidance all an be left in cluster. Think of acquiring all needed in a cluster.
